Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women worldwide, accounting for approximately 24.5% of all new cancer cases annually [1]. This highlights the significant public health burden of breast cancer. Early detection is crucial in improving survival rates, and Breast Self-Examination (BSE) plays an essential role in early identification, especially for younger women. BSE helps individuals become familiar with the normal look and feel of their breasts, allowing them to recognize any unusual changes such as lumps, swelling, or changes in skin texture. Although clinical breast exams and mammograms are primarily recommended for older women, BSE can be particularly beneficial for teenagers and young adults, as it fosters habits of early detection and awareness from a young age. While the incidence of breast cancer among adolescents is low, educating teenagers about BSE can create a foundation for lifelong breast health awareness. Research has shown that individuals who begin practicing BSE early are more likely to detect breast cancer at earlier, more treatable stages. Despite this, many teenagers lack sufficient knowledge about BSE due to cultural taboos, limited health education, and misconceptions about the risks of breast cancer in young people. These gaps in knowledge underscore the need for targeted educational programs aimed at teenagers to raise awareness about BSE and promote early breast health practices.
